At Gardenvale Chinese Medicine, we sometimes use ear seeds as an adjunct to acupuncture. An adhesive plaster with a small bead is placed over the acupuncture points on the external surface of the ear. Ear seeds can also be great for children or if you would prefer not to have needles.

Most of you will be familiar with reflexology. A whole microsystem of the body is on the foot. This is also true of the ear. The ear has a map in the form of an inverted fetus. With all the fine details of the anatomical, physiological and emotional body represented. All signals induced by auricular acupuncture travel through a specific part of the brain, to the corresponding body parts.

Fun Fact:

The ear is the first organ to develop to its full size. As it develops so early, it is nice to know that anyone out there on “parent radio”, talking to their partners pregnant belly, the embryo will hear from 18 weeks after conception.
